Restoring the way we are in relationship; community building, repair, healing, growth, and development.
A Holistic, Integrative Approach to Mediation
Our ReSET Mediation and Community Restoration Program assists groups, organization, and communities with navigating interpersonal challenges, grievances, and conflict resolution. We support diverse people who also may have neurodivergence, endured traumatic adversity, or live within underserved, disadvantaged communities that are often disproportionately BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color).
We hold dedicated safe space and a long-term, restorative focus grounded in ancient, Ancestral-Indigenous, and Eastern wisdoms with community healing/building/restoration practices for personal-collective wellbeing. These prinicples and modalities cultivate altruistic, reciprocal relationship with accountability for repairing harm, and strengthening community. Our structured, holistic process bridges across diverse cultures to assist with deepening listening, awareness, and communication (i.e., intention, words, body language, intuition +) for achieving balance through mindful, heart-centered dialogue.
Key Features and Methods
Individuals volunteer to participate and willingly engage in these processes to address and resolve underlying issues. Focused on healing relationships, the goal is to repair the social fabric and reconcile parties recognizing that a grievance or conflict affects community wellbeing.
A Collaborative, Equitable, Transparent Comunication and Resolution Process
Our mediation practices include:
A pre-meeting agreement comprised of specific, expressed needs to be honored for safety, reducing harm, and cultivating supportive, mindful dialogue towards resolution.
Embodied listening and mindful/heart-centered discussion of issues and points of view without interruption in safe, co-create neutral environment. Engaging in holistic communication practices (i.e., talking circles) allow for respectful, turn-based communication where participants share their experiences in a dedicated supportive, space to reach understanding.
Ancient, Ancestral-Indigenous or Eastern spiritual practices and journeywork with heart-centered communion/guidance(i.e., divination, channeling, intuition) to support more grounding and centeredness with expanded awareness for clarity in the resolution process. Bring Light into this plane to see beyond conditioning: senses, perception, processing, worldview, identity, sense of self).
Outcomes and Implementation
We facilitate the co-creation of reciprocal agreements with community ceremony, ritual, or other practices as preventive and cultivation measures to strengthen and provide ongoing relationship building/healing prior to the occurance grevience or conflict.
Our program also provides post-mediation support with outcome implementation as well as assistance with establishing an internal mediation process and guidelines. Consensus, internally-selected community members or elders (i.e., council) apply their wisdom to respectfully, uphold and promote growth/development of altruistic, relationship-based community. Future grievances are ideally addressed prior to conflict escalation; mediation discussions are guided toward reciprocity and balance for all parties (as apropriate) beyond a winner-loser outcome.
Overview of the Mediation Process
Step 1. Intake Interview(s)
After all parties/partipants have agreed to move forward and completed the mediation agreement, individual/small group interview sessions are scheduled via email and conducted by phone or videoconferencing to determine the issues, mediation appropiateness, and availability. The scheduling for the interview and formal mediation sessions will be completed through email and will receive an email confirmations.
Step 2. Provisional Resolution and Safe Space Agreements
Following the interview sessions, provisional resolution agreement drafts will be created by the mediator for each party. All parties/participants also will contribute to a safe space agreement to reduce harm while facilitating open mindful, heart-centered dialogue.
Step 3. Mediation Session(s)
During the initial mediation session, the parties/participants will have an opportunity to discuss their issues and point of view without interruption. The mediator will help the parties identify/clarify all of the issues that need to be discussed and explore/co-create possible solutions. The mediator will keep the sessions structured, allowing parties to participate in good faith and focus on reaching mutually agreeable outcomes.
Step 4. Resolution Agreement: Outcomes and Implementation
If the parties/participants reach an agreement, the mediator will create a resolution agreement, which as appropriate may be reviewed by legal counsel before signing. The mediator also may assist with outcomes implementation, the development of an internal conflict resolution process, and community repair and development.
